Why is my automated Speed Test slower than my internet connection?

Updated over a week ago

The automated Hotspot Speed Tests are designed to verify that a hotspot meets the minimum requirement of 100 Mbps download and 10 Mbps upload to achieve a 1.0x Reward Multiplier.

To optimize performance and conserve bandwidth and system resources, these tests are intentionally capped:

  • Download: capped at 150 Mbps

  • Upload: capped at 15 Mbps

As a result, your hotspot will always report a maximum of 150 Mbps down / 15 Mbps up during automated Speed Tests, regardless of your actual internet connection speed.

Example:

If your deployment site has a 1,000 Mbps fiber connection, the Speed Test results will still be limited to 150 Mbps down / 15 Mbps up.

Important: These caps apply only to automated Speed Tests. End users connected to your hotspot during normal usage are not affected by these limits.
